Tennis enthusiasts gathered at the Guangzhou Olympic Sports Centre today (5 January) for the 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou) “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Cup” TT Tennis Club Competition. The TT Tennis Club Competition is a national sports initiative that encourages amateur tennis players from across the nation to compete in teams of eight to ten. The Club is the title sponsor of the Guangzhou competition this year.

“The Hong Kong Jockey Club has been advocating sport and fitness in the Mainland since its involvement in the National Fitness Programmes in collaboration with the General Administration of Sports in 2014,” said Club CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges. “We are honored to be the title sponsor of this year’s TT Tennis Club Competition in the Greater Bay Area and to be able to support sports development in the Mainland.”

“This is an eventful weekend for sport in the Greater Bay Area with The HKJC Cup Guangzhou Final of the LONGINES China Tour also opening today. The equestrian competitions will take place over two days at the Guangdong Huangcun Sports Training Centre,” added Engelbrecht-Bresges.

The TT Tennis Club activities – organised by the TT Tennis Club – include tennis competitions as well as training for the general public. The 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou) “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Cup” is organised by the Guangdong Leisure Sports Center and TT Tennis Club, and co-organised by Guangdong Sports Systems Limited.

The Club is a long-standing supporter of sport in the Mainland. Since 2014, the Club has been cooperating with the General Administration of Sport to support Community Fitness Programmes. These include programmes to develop the standard of National Level Community Fitness Instructors and the skills of Qigong instructors. The Club is also funding four sports parks in Guangdong Province.
