Re-opening of Hong Kong Jockey Club Riding Schools

04/02/2021

Re-opening of Hong Kong Jockey Club Riding Schools

Following the announcement by government on the relaxation of pandemic restrictions on outdoor sports facilities, the Club will be opening Beas River Riding School, Tuen Mun and Pokfulam Public Riding Schools on Tuesday 9 February. To ensure the continued safety of our community, only PRIVATE and SEMI PRIVATE lessons will be available. Unfortunately lead rein and group sessions remain suspended. To ensure rider's safety, prior to opening the Club will ensure a deep clean of each premises, as well as COVID-19 testing for all staff. Touch points of tack and equipment will also be disinfected between sessions.

In line with government's advice, all staff at the riding schools will undergo regular COVID testing every 14 days. Additionally, everyone visiting any of the Schools will be asked to use the "LeaveHomeSafe" app. Details of the app can be found at https://www.leavehomesafe.gov.hk/en/. Visitors who do not have a smartphone will be asked to register their name, contact details and arrival and departure information. This is a government condition of opening, so we ask for our riders cooperation in this point.

Important information

•          All those entering the Club premises will be asked to complete a health declaration, have their temperatures checked and use hand sanitizer.
•          It is mandatory to wear a face mask at all times when not riding a horse or showering.
•          To maintain social distancing, no more than two people may group together. Riders are reminded to ensure there is 1.5m between themselves and other groups.
•          The schools are open for pre-booked lessons only and general visitors to the school are not permitted. Each rider may have one accompanying guest attend their session if required, but we ask that everyone leaves as soon as possible at the end of the riding session.
•          Riders and their guests will not be allowed in the indoor stable barns. Horses will be brought to the paddock for mounting and collected after dismounting.
•          Limited access to changing and showering facilities will be available.
•          Lessons will not be available in any indoor facility / arena.
•          To continue to keep the Equestrian community safe, there will be no movement of people between the different schools. Therefore, riders are unfortunately not able to ride in multiple schools.
•          Livery holders in BREC may continue to ride their horses as now, in line with previous guidance. Lessons will be available once the school re-opens.

The staff in the Riding Schools will contact riders to make confirmation of their lessons / bookings from Thursday 4 February. Should you have any queries, please contact the respective school directly.

On behalf of all our staff in the Equestrian Affairs Department of the Club, we wish to thank our Members, Customers and supporters for their continued understanding and support over the last few months. We very much look forward to welcoming you back in the saddle!
