Re-opening of Hong Kong Jockey Club Riding Schools

20/04/2022

Following the announcement by government on the relaxation of pandemic restrictions on outdoor sports facilities, the Club will be opening Beas River Riding School, Tuen Mun and Pokfulam Public Riding Schools on Thursday 21 April. To ensure the continued safety of our community, only PRIVATE and SEMI PRIVATE lessons will be available. Unfortunately lead rein and group LESSONS remain suspended. To ensure rider's safety, prior to opening the Club will undertake a deep clean of each premises, as well as undertake daily COVID-19 testing for all staff. Touch points of tack and equipment will also be disinfected between sessions.

All persons entering the riding schools must have completed a full COVID-19 vaccination course (2 doses or more) for at least 14 days prior to the date of visit.  They are required to scan the LeaveHomeSafe QR code using the LeaveHomeSafe mobile application and present a vaccination record in accordance with the Vaccine Pass requirements when entering the riding schools.  In addition, they will have to abide by the Club's Conditions of Entry (please see attached) and other public health measures, including temperature screening before entry and wearing of face masks during the stay in the riding schools.

Only Livery Holders, Authorized Riders, Riders taking lesson and one Parent / Guardian / guest accompanying riders will be allowed to visit. No entry for general visitors.

Rapid antigen test (RAT) before entry will NOT be required.

 Important information

  • No riding school riders are allowed to enter the indoor stable barns. Horses will be brought to the paddock / outside the stables for mounting and collected after dismounting.
  • The schools are open for pre-booked lessons only and general visitors to the school are not permitted. We ask that everyone leaves as soon as possible at the end of the riding session.
  • No beginner lessons requiring the horse / pony to be led will be provided, to ensure social distancing between staff and riders.
  • No large group activity to be held, such as pony rides, fun with ponies, stable tours etc. until further notice.
  • Horse's tack to be disinfected between lessons, with particular emphasis on the areas where it is touched (such as reins, girth straps etc.). Disinfection between uses also extended to riding hats and boots provided by the school.
  • To continue to keep the Equestrian community safe, there will be no movement of people between the different schools (including non-Hong Kong Jockey Club riding schools). Therefore, riders are unfortunately not able to ride in multiple schools.
  • BRCC changing facilities will be available to Members from 21 April. Members may also use the toilet facilities located at G/F of BRCC Admin Building.  The toilet facilities located at BREC side are for "Staff use only".
  • Livery holders in BREC may continue to visit their horses as now, in line with existing guidance and practices, until further notice. However, the requirement to undertake a rapid antigen test is no longer required.

The staff in the Riding Schools will contact riders to make confirmation of their lessons / bookings from today. Should you have any queries, please contact the respective school directly.

On behalf of all our staff in the Equestrian Affairs Department of the Club, we wish to thank our Members, Customers and supporters for their continued understanding and support over the last few months. We very much look forward to welcoming you back in the saddle!
