As Hong Kong welcomes in the Year of the Horse, the Club will be celebrating this auspicious year with events on all three days, starting with a spectacular float, featuring three magnificent horses, in the International Chinese New Year Night Parade next Tuesday (17 February). This will be followed by the Chinese New Year fireworks display, exclusively sponsored by the Club, on the second day, and the 2026 Year of the Horse Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on the third day.

All three events are part of the Club’s Year of the Horse campaign, a year-long celebration of the close bond between horses and humans and the contribution racing makes to Hong Kong. Racing is not only the city’s favourite pastime, but a symbol of its can-do spirit and stability under One Country Two Systems. Thanks to the success of Hong Kong horses on the international stage, it brings pride to Hong Kong citizens and global recognition to our city. None of this would be possible without the horse.

On 17 February (first day of Chinese New Year), for the first time the Club will be the sole Parade Route Sponsor of the Night Parade, with festive decorations set up along the route to allow spectators to enjoy the Chinese New Year vibe and take photos. The float, themed “Riding High Together in the Year of the Horse”, features three horses symbolising the vitality, prosperity and forward-looking spirit traditionally associated with the Year of the Horse.

Riding the float will be HKJC Equestrian Team rider and Asian Championship medallist Patrick Lam, together with Club Apprentice Jockey Britney Wong. They will join the Club’s mascots, the “Progressing Together Cheering Team”, and lion dance teams to share festive blessings with the community and tourists from around the world.

To help people of diverse ages and backgrounds enjoy this signature event, the Club will give away 100 parade tickets to beneficiaries of projects supported by its Charities Trust, including JC Project Bonfire, JC Project MuSE and JC PROJECT LIFT.

On 18 February (second day of Chinese New Year), the "Prosperity Gallops Across Hong Kong" Year of the Horse Fireworks Display, exclusively sponsored by the Club, will light up Victoria Harbour. The 23-minute spectacle, with 31,888 pyrotechnic shells, is divided into eight scenes and will feature horse elements and auspicious symbols to welcome in the new year.

On 19 February (third day of Chinese New Year), the 2026 Year of the Horse Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse will see a festive programme of feature races and themed activities. The Club’s float from the Night Parade will be on display during a day which will see racing fans and raceday tourists immerse themselves in festive joy, with plenty of Year of the Horse luck to take home with them.

The months to come will see many more events celebrating the Year of the Horse, the highlight being the launch, in October, of world-class racing, equestrian events and entertainment at the Club’s Conghua Racecourse in Guangzhou. This will be a significant milestone in the Club’s support for national equine industry development in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
