Jockey Club launches Home of Football campaign alongside Lenovo to celebrate the world’s biggest football event

9 June 2026
Share

With the world’s largest football festival set to kick off this week, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (the Club) today (9 June) announced the launch of its Home of Football campaign.

Through this the Club aims to enhance sports entertainment and fan engagement across its flagship racing and entertainment touchpoints, including the hugely popular Happy Wednesday series at Happy Valley Racecourse – where sport, music, culture and social entertainment come together in a uniquely Hong Kong setting.

This is the latest initiative in the Club’s drive to broaden its reach as an international sports entertainment business, showcasing Hong Kong as a hub for global exchange, connectivity and tourism, with the ultimate aim of creating more value for the community. The Club racecourses serve as platforms that showcase the vibrancy of Hong Kong – encouraging people to experience the magic when world-class sport meets top-class entertainment.

To further its vision, the Club has entered into a new strategic partnership with Lenovo, Official Technology Partner of FIFA World Cup 2026™ – bringing together two globally recognised brands. A key highlight of the collaboration is the “Racing with Football” series that includes a special guest appearance by an iconic football legend tomorrow (10 June) at Happy Valley Racecourse. Lenovo will also present the Lenovo Experience Booth, an immersive AI-powered football zone that showcases technologies associated with Lenovo's role at FIFA World Cup 2026™. Hong Kong will be the only city outside the tournament's host regions where fans can enjoy this experience.

Casper Stylsvig, the Club’s Executive Director, Sports Business, said horse racing has long been rooted in Hong Kong, and its success on the world stage has brought pride to the city and attracted fans and tourists from all over the globe. At the same time, Hong Kong shares the world’s passion for football, with major international tournaments igniting city-wide excitement. By kicking off with “Racing with Football”, the partnership with Lenovo will bring fans of the two iconic sports together in a celebration of the city’s unique sporting culture. The partnership also reflects a growing global trend of leading sports organisations working closely with technology partners to enhance fan engagement and live entertainment experiences. All initiatives are designed to contribute to Hong Kong’s tourist economy and reinforce its status as an international sports and entertainment hub.

Ken Wong, Executive Vice-President of Lenovo and President of Lenovo’s Solutions & Services Group, said: “As Official Technology Partner of FIFA World Cup 2026™, Lenovo is thrilled to bring the innovation behind one of the world's biggest sporting events to Hong Kong through our collaboration with The Hong Kong Jockey Club. Technology today plays a critical role in sport, from event operations and real-time analytics to fan engagement and immersive experiences. Lenovo has a proven track record supporting major international sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup, the Olympic Games, and Formula One. Through the Lenovo Experience Booth, fans will have a unique opportunity to explore AI-powered technologies that are helping shape the future of sport. This collaboration reflects Lenovo's commitment to transforming global innovation into meaningful local experiences.”

The "Racing with Football" initiative combines the thrills of Hong Kong’s world-class racing with the global passion of football. It will bring football-themed entertainment, exclusive fan experiences and special race-day activations to Happy Valley Racecourse throughout the tournament. Limited-edition football-themed merchandise will also be available at the on-course Gift at Races store. Highlights include:

1.      Special guest appearance (10 June)
An iconic international football legend will make a special appearance at Happy Valley Racecourse on 10 June.

2.      Lenovo Experience Booth (10 June, 24 June and 8 July)
As Official Technology Partner of FIFA World Cup 2026™, Lenovo will bring its immersive Lenovo Experience Booth to Happy Valley Racecourse. The AI-powered football zone will feature interactive experiences and digital activations that showcase how technology is transforming sports performance, event operations and fan engagement.

3.      Special Race (8 July)
A special race themed around “Racing with Football” will be held on 8 July. Further details will be announced closer to the date.

Beyond on-course celebrations, the Home of Football excitement will extend to Off-Course Betting Branches (OCBBs). Starting from Friday (12 June), the Club will extend the operating hours of 23 OCBBs on 25 designated match days. These branches will open as early as 8:00 am or 9:00 am, bringing football fans together to watch select tournament matches live (please refer to the appendix for details).

The Club will also collaborate with renowned key opinion leaders (KOLs) and content creators to bring exclusive content about host cities’ culture, energy and passion to Hong Kong during the tournament period. This content will be made available across the Club’s social media platforms, in OCBBs, and on MTR In-train TVs.

As the clock counts down to the tournament, it is reminded that all gambling activities in Hong Kong are illegal, except those authorised by the Government. The Club remains fully committed to supporting the HKSAR Government in combating illegal gambling and raising awareness of its dangers. Illegal gambling poses a constant, serious threat to Hong Kong’s community, resulting in serious harm that reaches personal, family and community levels. The public is reminded to stay away from illegal gambling.
