The Hong Kong Jockey Club is deeply saddened by the passing of The Honourable Tung Chee Hwa, former Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; the first Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; and former Patron of the Club.
Mr Tung was a visionary leader and a pioneer who led Hong Kong in the groundbreaking implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" principle. He made immense contributions to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability. With a deep commitment to the Nation's overall development and the well-being of Hong Kong people, Mr Tung demonstrated remarkable foresight in shaping Hong Kong's long-term development and governance. Throughout his distinguished public service, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to serving both the Nation and Hong Kong.
