Through its unique value creation model and thanks to its strong operational performance the Club is able to contribute substantially. In 2025/26, the Club’s Charities Trust approved a total of HK$8.6 billion in donations to 191 charity and community projects. The Trust is one of the world’s leading charity donors.
Taking into account Hong Kong’s evolving social needs, the Trust has embarked on a new triennium strategy to 2027/28. Adopting an impact-led approach, it focuses on five sectors, namely health, education, sports, culture and sustainability, and four target beneficiary groups: children, youth in families; older adults; development of professionals; and fairer opportunities for disadvantaged and marginalised communities.
To create lasting impact, the Trust has initiated and implemented its own Trust-initiated Projects working in conjunction with the HKSAR Government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), academia and community partners.
Increasingly, the Trust is participating in national, regional and global philanthropic dialogue. It launched the inaugural Philanthropy for Better Cities forum in 2016, with the fifth edition – PBC 2026 – being held in September 2026.
In 2023, the Trust and the Club established the Institute of Philanthropy (IoP) as an independent “think-fund-do” tank for China, Asia and beyond, dedicated to promoting philanthropic thought leadership and enhancing sector capabilities at local, regional and global levels in collaboration with fellow funders.
The Club is a committed supporter of sports development and of the power of sport to shape and change lives. The Club also sees great potential for Hong Kong as a hub for world-class sports events and sports tourism. A particular focus for the Club is equestrian sports, football and basketball.
Drawing on its professional expertise, the Club has supported numerous high-level equestrian competitions. Notably the Club supported the equestrian events of the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which were held in Hong Kong, providing funding to construct competition venues and equine services during the competition itself. The Club was subsequently named as an Outstanding Contributor. The Club was similarly recognised for its support for the equestrian events of the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games. As a legacy it constructed Conghua Racecourse on the site. The Club was also pleased to provide technical support for the equestrian events of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and for the 2025 National Games.
In 2025, the Club was Founding Partner of the inaugural LONGINES Hong Kong International Horse Show, continuing its support as a Strategic Partner of the 2026 edition.
At the community level, the Club’s three public riding schools build popular interest and engagement. Pony World, which opened in Penfold Park in June 2026, provides further opportunities, especially for children, to learn about horse sports.
Through its support for elite equestrian and para equestrian riders, the Club has enabled Hong Kong, China to achieve great success in international competition, including its first ever Asian Games equestrian gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games and five medals at the inaugural FEI Asian Championships. Thanks to the efforts of Club-supported riders, Hong Kong, China sent its largest ever equestrian and para equestrian team to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. The Club-initiated JC Youth Football Development programme provides professional coaching, as well as leadership and life skills training, to Hong Kong’s young people - helping them grow physically, mentally and socially. Several have already been inspired to give back, sharing their learning as community football coaches.
In support of basketball – one of Hong Kong’s most popular team sports – the Club has launched initiatives to make basketball more accessible to the young and underprivileged as well as to build coaching capabilities.
Beyond sports development, the Club’s JC Junior Sports Reporters Programme offers journalistic training with practical on-field experience, helping young people improve their communication and expression skills, and acquire a professional and responsible attitude. And working in close partnership with districts, the Club seeks to address community needs at the local level, in many cases enlisting the support of its employee volunteer team, CARE@hkjc.
