National Games Equestrian Updates – 5 Sep (Eventing Team/Individual Competition: Dressage)

05/09/2017

HKJC Equestrian Team riders lead in both team and individual eventing competitions

The Hong Kong eventing team, comprising HKJC Equestrian team riders Patrick Lam (horse: Jockey Club Dyk 5), Thomas Ho (horse: Jockey Club Charlene Old), Nicole Pearson (horse: Jockey Club Weronique), and Annie Ho (horse: Jockey Club Amy Lee 2), all produced excellent results in the dressage test today (5 Sep), placing the team first after day 1 with 146.6 penalty points.

At the individual level, all four Hong Kong riders finished in the top 8 among 31 riders after day 1, with Patrick Lam in the lead.

The National Games eventing competition is a three-day event that commenced today (5 Sep) with the dressage test and will continue with the cross country test tomorrow (6 Sep), followed by the jumping test on Thursday (7 Sep).

Hong Kong is fielding its largest-ever equestrian team at this year’s National Games and competing in all three equestrian disciplines for the first time, with eight local riders contesting the jumping, dressage and eventing competitions. They are supported by an 11-strong team of HKJC veterinarians, farriers and other supporting staff under the Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan that was initiated and funded by the Club.

Drawing on its equine expertise, the Club is pleased to support the development of equestrian sports through its public riding schools, by supporting the equestrian events of the Beijing Olympics and the Guangzhou Asian Games, and through nurturing elite riders who bring pride to Hong Kong
