Differences Between Players in Hong Kong and The United Kingdom

In general, the youth league players in Hong Kong train 1.5 times a week, while players in the Hong Kong youth team train four times, which is comparable to players in the United Kingdom.

The training frequency could explain why the general fitness performance of youth league players in Hong Kong is inferior when compared to others.

Although number of training sessions per week is similar, the muscle power and aerobic endurance, as indicated by the Countermovement Jump Test and Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test results, of HK youth team players was lower than their counterparts in the United Kingdom.

While it is beyond the scope of the project to give a thorough review regarding types of training between Hong Kong and UK, the different between players in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, the difference between the two sets of players in these two categories reflects the need to increase strength and endurance training in addition to tactic centred sessions.
