Jockey Club appoints Dr Lake Wang to the position of Executive Director, People and Organisational Development

The Hong Kong Jockey Club today (27 September) announced the appointment of Dr Lake Wang to the position of Executive Director, People and Organisational Development (EDPO), with effect from 1 October 2018. Dr Wang will be a member of the Club’s Board of Management and will report directly to the CEO Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges. He will replace the current EDPO, Mr Gary Chow who will be retiring from the Club effective 1 January 2019.

In his capacity as EDPO, Dr Wang will lead his team in continuing to drive the Club’s organisational transformation with a focus on customer-centric performance culture and strong collaboration. With extensive experience in leadership, organisational development and management, Dr Wang will play a key strategic role in supporting the Club’s development.

Prior to joining the Club, Dr Wang has worked at BP since 2008. He held various senior positions including Global Head of HR for BP Petrochemicals as well as Global Human Resources Head for Castrol & BP Lubricants. Prior to BP, Dr Wang was Vice President, Human Resources for Greater China Area of A.P. Moller Maersk, and Executive Director of the Maersk Management Board for Maersk China and Hong Kong.

Dr Wang holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Shanghai Normal University, an EMBA from the China Europe International Business School, and a PhD from Cranfield University, UK.

Meanwhile, Mr Gary Chow will take up the role of Executive Director, Special Projects, and continue as a member of the Club’s Board of Management until his retirement date. He will also support the newly appointed EDPO Dr Wang to ensure a smooth transition.
