Striding On: Trey Lee — A Musician Beyond Time and Space

05/10/2021

The May issue of Striding On’s Celebrity Chat features Trey Lee, an internationally renowned Chinese cellist. See how Trey Lee pursued his passion and is now inspiring new musicians.

Trey comes from a musical family. After graduating from Harvard University, he worked as a trainee on Wall Street in New York. However, he later decided to pursue his passion and switched to a career in music. He has released several albums, including The Dream of the Red Chamber Capriccio under the direction of composer Wang Liping.

In 2010, he founded the Musicus. It brings together musical performers from around the world for cross-cultural exchanges. With funding from the Club, the Musicus Society rolled out a new programme called “the Jockey Club Musicus Heritage Alive Programme”. It stages performances at Tai Kwun and other significant heritage venues. "One of my dreams is to learn more about Hong Kong's historical sites. If there are more places in Hong Kong where concerts can be held, we can study the history of these heritage sites alongside appreciating music."

This issue’s Dream Catchers interviews Tsang Pak-tung. She represented Hong Kong in the International Women’s Friendly Football Match when she was only 16. Today, she is a rising star in the local football scene. She shared her connection with football which has helped her grow inside and outside the pitch.

The Talk of the Town discusses end-of-life care which takes into account the psychological needs of terminal patients and helps them spend their final moments in a familiar environment, whether at home, at a residential care facility or another place of their choosing.

The latest issue of Striding On can be read online on the Club's website (in Chinese only) at http://corporate.hkjc.com/corporate/operation/chinese/striding-on.aspx.
