02/16/2022

Responding to the urgent and pressing need to fight the latest wave of the pandemic, The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (16 February) the donation of HK$10 million to Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link.

“At this critical moment in the pandemic we must all join hands together, mobilising our resources to help those in need.  This is why, in addition to the HK$1.5 billion it has already committed to fight the pandemic, the Club is today donating another HK$10 million to Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link. I sincerely believe that through our joint efforts and our “can-do” spirit, Hong Kong definitely can and will overcome this present crisis,” said Philip Chen, Chairman of The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Showing their caring spirit, members of the Club’s staff volunteer team, CARE@hkjc, have also volunteered to help out, and are on standby to lend assistance as requested by the Agency for Volunteer Service.

The Club’s purpose is the betterment of our society, and at this very challenging time for Hong Kong it is standing strong with the community, doing everything it can. Over the last two years it has helped some one million people, especially those hard hit by the pandemic, including the elderly, the food insecure, first-time job seekers and low-income families. Most recently it has funded the distribution of “Leave-home safe” compatible smartphones and data plans to approximately 20,000 elderly people.
