With the 15th National Games, 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) approaching, the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team of The Hong Kong Jockey Club (the Club) is preparing to give its full support. At the pledging ceremony for the volunteers of the 15th National Games, NGD & NSOG in Hong Kong held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium today (14 September), representatives of the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team affirmed their commitment to support this major national sporting event.
The pledging ceremony, organised by the HKSAR Government’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, was attended by officiating guests including Rosanna Law, HKSAR Government Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vivian Sum, Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism; Yeung Tak-keung, Head of the National Games Coordination Office (Hong Kong); Raymond Tam, Executive Director, Corporate Affairs of The Hong Kong Jockey Club; Dr James Wong, Vice Chairman of the Agency of Volunteer Service; and Andy Kwok, Chairman of the Hong Kong Volunteers Association.
Speaking at the ceremony, Rosanna Law, HKSAR Government Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the volunteer team comprises more than 1,000 youths aged 15 to 17, together with over 15,000 adult volunteers from diverse age groups and backgrounds, the eldest being over 80 years old. They share the same philosophy and passion for services to support the two national mega sports events with devoted actions. She also expressed gratitude to The Hong Kong Jockey Club for its sponsorship in supporting the organisation of the competition events, including volunteer training, development of the information management system, allowances, catering, and uniforms. She also thanked the Agency for Volunteer Service and the Hong Kong Volunteers Association for planning and implementing the entire volunteer programme, including recruitment and training, thereby providing solid support to the entire volunteer work.
Raymond Tam, Executive Director, Corporate Affairs of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, stated that volunteer services will play a vital role in ensuring the successful hosting of the Games. To support this effort, some 100 members of the Club’s CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team will join hands with other volunteers to provide professional and attentive support for athletes, guests and spectators in the Hong Kong Competition Region. He also highlighted the Club’s longstanding commitment to advancing sports development both in Hong Kong and at the national level. The Club has committed more than HK$500 million to support the Games in the Hong Kong and Guangdong Competition Regions, he noted, and extended his best wishes for the Games’ success.
Over 30 members of the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team attended today’s ceremony, pledging their wholehearted support for the Games. Among them was Vivian Kong, gold medallist in the women’s individual épée event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, who was appointed Volunteer Ambassador of the Hong Kong Volunteer Programme of the 15th National Games, NGD & NSOG. She led volunteers in taking the oath together with another Volunteer Ambassador, former Hong Kong athlete Leung Kwok-shing. In their roles as Volunteer Ambassadors, they will encourage fellow volunteers to provide efficient and high-quality services.
The Club’s dedicated volunteers will undergo 13 hours of training to prepare for their roles, demonstrating not only their strong commitment to serving the community, but also the Club’s unwavering support for national sports development – reflecting its purpose of contributing to the betterment of society.
As the sole Partner Sponsor of the National Games, NGD & NSOG for the Hong Kong Competition Region, the Club and its Charities Trust have jointly committed a total of HK$450 million in support. The Club’s sponsorship will specifically support volunteer service programmes, territory-wide community and school promotional activities, and initiatives enabling underprivileged groups and youth to attend the events as spectators.
The Club is also supporting the Guangdong Competition Region through official activities, volunteer services and promotion work, as well as providing technical support for the equestrian events. For these initiatives, the Club has committed RMB50 million.

15th National Games and the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games
The National Games (NG), held once every four years, is the nation's highest-level and the largest multi-sport event. The 15th NG, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) will be co-hosted for the first time by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in 2025. Organised by the National Games Coordination Office (Hong Kong) under the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the 15th NG in Hong Kong will be held from 9 November (Sunday) to 21 (Friday), 2025. Hong Kong will organise eight competition events, namely, Basketball (men’s U22), Track Cycling, Fencing, Golf, Handball (men), Rugby Sevens, Triathlon and Beach Volleyball. The 12th NGD and 9th NSOG will be held from 8 (Monday) to 15 (Monday) December, 2025. Hong Kong will organise four competition events including NGD events Boccia, Wheelchair Fencing and Para Table Tennis (TT11) and NSOG event Table Tennis. In addition, the mass participation events of the 15th NG (bowling), and the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG (para dance sport), organised by Hong Kong, were completed smoothly in August and September this year respectively.
