Striding on together - the HKJC and equestrian sport share the same spirit of partnership and commitment to excellence.
All equestrian coaches have obtained internationally-recognised qualifications from the British Horse Society (BHS) or the equivalent and hold up-to-date first aid certificates. Equestrian coaches receive weekly training from the Senior Manager, Equestrian (PRS) and regular training from visiting coaches and examiners. Where possible, they are sent overseas to further their training and to enrich their experience. All are encouraged to compete in horse shows and competitions.
Senior Manager, Equestrian (PRS)
Bee Chan Sai-kin (British Horse Society Instructor)
Bee Chan was trained in the UK at Talland School of Equitation under Pammy Hutton FBHS, at Ingestre Stables under Tim Downes FBHS and in Australia with George Senna. He achieved BHSAI and BHSII qualifications in 1996 and 2000 respectively. In 2013, he achieved a new qualification of BHSI, making him the first person in HK and China, and the second person in Asia, to earn this qualification. Bee Chan represented the Hong Kong Team in the Bangkok 1998 Asian Games, the New Delhi International Competition in 2001 and Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games. He was also appointed as a coach for the Hong Kong Equestrian Team of Beijing 2008 Paralympics Games, Chef d'Equipe of the HKJC Junior Equestrian Training Squad in Longines Hong Kong Masters 2013 and Team Coach of HK Para Team in CEPDI3* Werribee Competition, which was held in Australia.

Sofia Vice Caroline Holm (International Level 3)
Caroline Holm was born in Sweden and started riding in 1987. She qualified in the International Riding Instructor Passport Level 2 and 3 (i.e. BHSI) in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Over the years, she has gained extensive experience in Dressage and Show Jumping. Caroline Holm joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club in January 2010 as a riding instructor, and has taught riding at all levels.
Joe Yuen Kwok-lung (British Horse Society Intermediate Instructor)
Joe Yuen joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club in 1986 and has been a qualified riding instructor since 1994. He was trained in the UK at Talland School of Equitation under Pammy Hutton FBHS to receive the qualification of BHSII. Joe represented the Hong Kong Equestrian Team in both dressage and show jumping. He has worked in all three public riding schools training staff and riders for BHS examinations. Joe Yuen specialises in teaching dressage.
Equestrian Coach
Raymond Yeung Kai-ming (British Horse Society Assistant Instructor & Stage IV Riding)
Raymond Yeung was the first riding instructor to acquire the BHSAI qualification successfully in 1995. He received further training in the UK and passed the BHS Stage IV Riding Exam in 2004. Raymond Yeung shows boundless enthusiasm for the horse show competition in jumping, dressage and one-day events.
Matthew Wong Chi-lung (British Horse Society Intermediate Instructor)
Matthew Wong qualified as a riding instructor in 2001 and subsequently trained at Ingestre Stables with Tim Downes FBHS in the UK for the BHS Stage IV Riding. In November 2013, he achieved a new qualification of BHSII. Matthew Wong has represented Tuen Mun Public Riding School to compete in all disciplines of the equestrian shows. He enjoys teaching children and training young horses.
Simon Ho Yiu-chung (British Horse Society Assistant Instructor)
Simon Ho joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club as Equestrian Assistant in November 2005 and switched to Trainee Riding Instructor in June 2009 after passing his BHS Preliminary Teaching Test. He acquired his BHSAI qualification in November 2013 and has solid experience in training ponies and conducting stable visit tours. Simon Ho is currently responsible for pony lessons in Cantonese as well as fun riding activities.
Mo Mo Lam Hoi-ming (British Horse Society Assistant Instructor)
Mo Mo Lam joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club as Equestrian Assistant in April 2009 and was elected to be a member of the Trainee Riding Instructor Programme in May 2012. He converted to Junior Riding Instructor in February 2014 after passing his BHS Preliminary Teaching Test. He acquired his BHSAI qualification in May 2017. Mo Mo Lam is currently responsible for conducting pony lessons in Cantonese as well as horse activities.
Ivan Wong Hiu Fung (British Horse Society Associate Instructor)
Ivan joined the Club in 1989. He got the qualification at Talland School of Equitation under Pammy Hutton FBHS in 1995. He has worked in all Jockey Club riding schools and Racing Development Board in the Club. Ivan was the winner of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Graded Dressage Competition Elementary Level (Grades C&B) and Samsung International Dressage Competition Group V in 1996. He got 2nd in The Horse of the Year Dressage Championship in 2003. He enjoys riding and teaching difference level of riders.
James Kwok (British Horse Society Intermediate Instructor)
James Kwok joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club in 1996 and acquired the BHSII qualification in 2013 after training in the Ingestre Stables in the UK with Tim Downes FBHS. He was appointed the Assistant Stable Manager at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games. He gives lessons to the public and on-the-job-training to the staff.
Chris Tse (British Horse Society Assistant Instructor)
Chris Tse joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club as Equestrian Assistant in 2009. Through the years of internal and overseas training with Tim Downes FBHS at Ingestre Stables in the UK, he attained the BHSAI Certificate. Apart from teaching, he continues to expand his knowledge in equestrian sports to pursue a higher level qualification.

Jessica Yeung Lok-yin (British Horse Society Preliminary Teaching Test)
Jessica Yeung joined the Hong Kong Jockey Club as a member of the Racing Development Board’s Racing Trainee Programme in 2010. She then continued her career as an equestrian assistant at Tuen Mun Public Riding School after graduating from the Racing Trainee Programme in 2011. She subsequently converted to junior riding instructor in January 2018 after passing the British Horse Society Preliminary Teaching Test in December 2017. Jessica is enthusiastic about participating in dressage and jumping competitions. In addition, she assists the Riding for the Disabled Association in a range of equestrian activities and also trains horses. She is currently responsible for conducting pony riding lessons in Cantonese and fun riding activities.
Angel Ng Yee-Kwan (British Horse Society Foundation Coach in Complete Horsemanship)
Angel Ng joined the Hong Kong Jockey Club as a member of the Racing Development Board’s Racing Trainee Programme in 2015. She then continued her career as an equestrian assistant at Tuen Mun Public Riding School after graduating from the Racing Trainee Programme in 2016. She subsequently converted to junior equestrian coach in January 2024 after passing the British Horse Society Foundation Coach in Complete Horsemanship in December 2023. Angel is currently responsible for conducting pony riding lessons and fun riding activities.
